New grant will allow urban heat mitigation work in Western Sydney to continue
The Fifth Estate | 6 February 2020
IN BRIEF: The Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils has secured a grant to continue its urban heat mitigation work.
The $90,000 in funding through Increasing Resilience to Climate Change fund (assisted by the NSW government and supported by Local Government NSW) will go towards ongoing work that will allow councils to insert urban heat mitigation measures in land-use planning and development controls.
Temperatures in Western Sydney suburbs can get up to as much as 10 degrees higher than other suburbs in Sydney that are closer to the coast.
